Where Ralph is the equivalent of Churchill who represents democracy and stands for peace and wellbeing. Golding shows us that Ralph and jack are opposites right from the beginning when he describes their physical appearance. It sounds as though Golding is describing the grim reaper who as we all know is associated with death and evil. And also Black and red are colours that are normally associated with evil or villainy whereas Ralph is described as tall for his age and handsome with fair hair and this sounds as though Golding is describing a hero for example someone like Hercules. At the beginning Jack seems to be the one that society or civilisation has had the greatest effect on. He immediately assumes it was an adult that blew the conch and is first to suggest that they should figure out a way to get off the island.

Leadership plays a very important role in the novel as it does in real life for us, because the characters need to feel some sense of security in order for them to survive. The two main leaders in the story, through their similar and different leadership characteristics and objectives fight back and forth to gain the discipline of the other boys on the island. This is to generally gain the power to make the decisions that they feel should be made, sometimes for the better of the entire group, and sometimes for their own purpose. The leaders which are presented throughout the novel all have their own method of leading, and serve different purposes.
Jack And Ralph Leadership Analysis
Book: Lord of the Flies. The existence of mankind on earth relies on various factors. The basic needs for us humans to survive are food, water, shelter etc. These though, are only the physical needs of man.
Ralph was extremely frustrated with everyone because many of the boys did not care that the fire went out. Ralph realizes that fire is one of the most important things since that is the thing that is supposed to get them rescued off of the island. The boys, besides Ralph, are showing their evil by not caring that this happened to them instead they just brush it off like it is no big deal but in reality it is a huge deal for their survival. The way that Ralph was brought up in his society shows that he can control his evil reactions in tense situations since he does not want to lash out at somebody. Also, someone who does not speak well is less likely to be listened to than someone that does speak well.
