Gatsby Color Symbolism
Alright, let's just state it straight out, right now: Yes, there are certain similarities between the world of Charlie Bone and the world of Harry Potter. Both feature seemingly-ordinary pre-adolescent English boys I'm pretty sure Charlie Bone is English, anyway--it's not as obvious as Harry Potter who one day discover that they have magical powers and thus are sent to special schools with others like them. At said schools, they encounter both enemies and allies, sometimes unexpected ones, as they attempt to unravel mysteries that tie into their own families' pasts. Although, really, I think that's a pretty general plot outline for a children's fantasy series. It seems obvious to me from reading this book that the author has an entire mythology in her mind that is going to take a while to play out as of this writing, there are five books in the series , and she wants to seed clues about them throughout earlier books, even when the main plot of that particular book won't come close to dealing with those clues.
